María José Ulloa Navas

PhD Student

María José Ulloa Navas completed her PhD in 2021, focusing on the ultrastructural characterization of oligodendrocytes and their progenitor cells (OPCs) in the human brain. Using transmission electron microscopy and immunogold labeling approaches, her work defined distinct stages of oligodendrocyte differentiation and developed improved methods for detecting lineage markers at the ultrastructural level. Her research also provided insights into the role of OPC-related markers in glial tumors and explored the subcellular dynamics of CRISPR-based tools in these cells. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
